Cancer
Support in conjunctionWhen a person is diagnosed with Cancer, money might not be one of
the first things that they think about, but having Cancer can be
expensive. They may be unable to work, have to pay for a special
diet, child care or travelling expenses. If you know of someone who
is struggling to cope with the financial effect of Cancer,
Peterborough Citizens Advice Bureau can provide free, impartial and
confidential help.
This help is in the form of three Welfare Rights Advisors and Two
Administrators who run a project that is funded by Macmillan.
The advisors are able to provide people suffering from Cancer and
their families with advice on a range of topics, including applying
for and appealing against benefit decisions, accessing charitable
grants, applying for local authority financial support such as
school clothing grants, applying for transport concessions such as
disabled parking badge and housing costs . We are also able to
advise on other issues such as housing, debt, immigration and
employment. See our
leaflet.
The CAB Welfare Rights Advisors are not only able to see clients at the bureau office, but are happy to visit clients in their own home if more appropriate to the clients needs.
If you know of a patient who you feel would benefit from our services, you are able to refer the client directly to the project administrators by calling 01733 887915.
Alternatively, you may wish to complete our interactive referral form (see top right) and email it or fax it to 01733 340028. The project administrators will then contact the client to arrange for them to see a CAB Welfare Rights Advisor.
